A sign on the property tells the neighbourhood it is available and gives them a number to call. It is one of the cheapest ways to reach local buyers and tenants.

Layout

For sale or To let should be the biggest words, with your agency's name and a phone number underneath. Use colours that contrast strongly with the background, such as white on red. Avoid long addresses or websites that cannot be read at speed.

Sizes

A2 fits fences and small gates. A1 is the standard for plots and buildings. A0 is for large sites and roadside boards.

Stand or board only

Board only is for fixing to existing structures. With stand includes a frame or post, so you can place the sign on a plot or verge.

Durability

Boards are built for outdoor use, but strong sun will fade any print eventually. Replace when colours dull.
