Tagging things that never move much

Furniture lasts for years and is often transferred between rooms and floors. A visible number tag helps you record where each piece is and prevents disputes when offices are reorganised or renovated.

Placement tips

On desks, place the tag under the front edge or on the side panel. On chairs, use the back of the frame. On cabinets, stick it inside the door or on a corner. Choose a spot that is easy to reach but not on frequent contact surfaces.

Materials

Polyester is fine on most laminates, painted metal and plastic. On wooden or textured surfaces, adhesive may hold poorly, so aluminium with screw holes may be better, as long as you are allowed to drill or screw into the piece.

Sizes

50 x 25 mm is neat and unobtrusive, 60 x 30 mm allows room for a department, and 75 x 38 mm suits a larger logo and number.
